Root doesn't exist?

Linux, Ubuntu, 2015-06-16 23:41:30 UTC

I recently got a problem after installing Ubuntu 12.04. The problem is, I can't switch into root by typing su command. As I remember in installation, there was no configuration about root. It was only configuration about a user.

After searching around, I came into a solution. Just type command below and now I can switch into root.

your_name@ubuntu-RV:~$ sudo passwd root
[sudo] password for your_name:
Enter new UNIX password:
Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: password updated successfully
your_name@ubuntu-RV:~$ su root
Added user root.

That's all... now you can switch into root.
